Infographic
We often include infographics in both web and print posts. They also include interactive elements, such as ThingLink where by hovering it will tell more information about the highlighted point. We also use other apps such as infogram.
Embedded
I often use other social media to further develop the stories I write about, such as including athletic twitter posts in sports coverage. In my AI art article, I included a thread by an artist I had mentioned participating in the lawsuit taking place on AI art.
Visuals
I often draw visuals to engage our readers in fun, new and interesting ways. I stylised Missed Connections to represent different online media before posting images to instagram to engage readers who do not have access to our print versions.
SOCIAL MEDIA
We often use social media as a way to promote stories that cover timely news. Most often we use photography to tell the news story in order to showcase the event. We also use West Side Story's social media page to promote and keep students up to date on matters involving school, extracurricular events and our community.
In WSS print, online stories go up on the website after publication day and we use social media to inform our online readers of new stories our publication has run. We post to both twitter and facebook to ensure we reach all of our audience. During track season, I plan to use social media as a way to cover multiple day events such as Drake or the State meet.
I have also done live updates on our instagram for sports games, and as of recently I did coverage for the girls basketball senior night game. This included recording points and information from the game, taking videos and creating layouts while taking pictures of the actual game. I also used my time after the game to get a few interviews to make the following brief more informative and engaging for the readers.
